4000 Point Apocalypse Battle....

The Council advised the Great Autarch against moving two of the largest houses to defend the Maiden world "Summer's Blood". The Grand Chief's dream provoked this response, compelled him to send his craftworld to war.

What the Council didn't tell him was, as they cleansed the world of "monkeigh" an old brother sought to blood themselves as well. So swift through the Webway that little time was left to react.

As one of the webway runners returned, time was all but gone. The Kabal of the Black Heart neared. The Grand Chief could only muster his support reserve to stall the imminent attack. The Council knew when and where the Dark Kin would emerge, all they needed was to be ready. The Great Autarch was filled with sorrow, for he needed to disturb the spirit of his great Grandfather and call him to war once again. His twin cousins would have the honor of merging with their ancestor, and amend the past.

The stage was set, all that remained was to play out what the Seer Council saw...

The story continues....

Apocalypse Battle Report Intro....

Here is the intro to a 4000 pt Apocalypse Battle between the Dark Eldar and the Saim-Hann Eldar. The Dark Eldar had taken a few formations, the carnival of pain (something like that), the Raider formation, and the Ravager titan killer formation.
I had only the SunStorm formation as I had a very small army.... Titan used most of my points....

Warlock pt.2

This model is not for the Seer Council, he rides with my other Jetbike squad. The model is a pretty simple conversion: saw in half, saw off arm, glue on Jetbike rider arm & legs, greenstuff robes & rune.

I may make a mold of the hood for the rune, as I need more for the Seer Council... sculpting is not my strong suit....

Seer Council: Farseer

Here is another Farseer on Jetbike. I've decided not to sculpt robes on him, as it doesn't feel logical that they would wear them into battle.

It's not a terribly difficult conversion, head and weapon swap, some greenstuff...

The whole Council will be wearing feathers. Would furs and such be too much?

He also has the traditional Farseer Helm detail...

Phoenix Bomber of the Saim-Hann...

So I entered the Oval base Contest that Bell of Lost Souls & IronHalo where having this month. Here is what I sent in for it...

The base is mostly as it is sold by IronHalo, with the addition of GW static grass. The "celtic" stones where painted turquoise to give it an alien feel.

The New Flyer stem fits the base well.

Saim-Hann Battle Report...

Well the good fellas at MiniWarGaming posted two vids from their 40K tourney. I'm still kicking my own arse for not bringing my camera....

There is a second vid but you need to log into the Miniwargaming site for it.

I got real lucky in that game, when the dice are your friend and you have a unit with fortune.... can be frustrating for your opponent. I also got luck near the end of the game as I forced the farthest Tau unit to fallback off the Objective. If I failed in that it would have been a tie game.

Phantom Titan of the Saim-Hann pt.2

Some of you out there may be wondering if I'm ever going to finish this model.... I hope so.
I finished more of the torso today, I'm almost half way there now...

There are some small changes made to the titan. Armor plates around the hips, prism crystal and laser emitter, I sculpted a chin guard on the head.... to give him a more "guardian" feel.

The plan is to have the arm cannons black and the wings white. the head I'm not entirely sure what to do, white or red?

It has also been suggested to have a loin cloth hanging, similar to the wraithlord model... I may.

New Farseer on foot...

I was working on my SeerCouncil and was struck with the idea of a Farseer in the same design as the rest of my council. The fluff of the Saim-hann is they are the first to abandon the rest of the Eldar, share commonalities with the exodites, and are viewed as barbaric by the other Craftworlds. So I made this guy for the army for when I don't want or need a Farseer on bike.

Close up of his face. Going for a North American Indian motif for the army. It has been the plan since I created the autarch wayback....

Reinforcements...

The maniac strikes again.... I needed some warwalkers, waveserpents, dire avengers, and guardians. So I bought three battle forces, but I'm not completely mad, they were all deals (Miniwargaming sale, Ebay).

Saim-Hann Colors...

So I purchased a Citadel Spray Gun in the hopes of moving faster in my project. The gun works like a charm, just need a compressor for it now to do all my models.

Now judging by the picture here does the two sets of models look the same color?

The models on the right is sprayed with GW's Mechrite Red. The bike on the left is Vallejo's Bloody Red. Both paints are of the same pigment quality but the Vallejo line is far superior in range and color. I certainly hope GW is planning on more paints in the same quality as Vallejo's paints.

I already painted 5 of my bikes using Mechrite Red and probably finish the squad with it for consistency. But then again I may brighten them up some....

MiniWarGaming Tourney results.....

I was going to bring my camera but I was running late and so I have no media on the days adventure.... :(
On the plus side the guys at MiniWarGaming were shooting vid and pics of the day so when that is posted I'll let you know.

So, how'd it go? Well I was late so my first game was short but managed to pull out a win.

Game 1. I was facing a DeathWing army (2 Landraiders, 20 termies, 1 dread). The mission was Take and Hold with a secondary objective being "have a unit in each table quarter". I held the Primary Objective for a minor win.

Game 2. A battle against Chaos Iron Warriors with a turn 4 random objective roll. The Chaos army consisted of 2 vindicators, 1 Pred w/ 3lascan, 2 units of marines, 1 unit of bikes, kharne, 1 Dread, and a lord. By turn Four the we were to hold objectives (each terrain feature), this ended as a major win as I was holding more terrain and had the secondary objective (kill enemy characters). My opponent was a good sport, and I don't think he had a lot of experiences dealing with a highly mobile army.

Game 3. A battle against the Greater Good. This game I knew would be a tough one. The mission was objective counters (5 of them) and deployment was on the short table edges 24 inches in. I won the roll for deployment so I let the Tau go first. This Tau force was a lot of models ( 2 commanders, 2 crisis, 6 stealth, 2 firewarrior units, 2 unit of kroot, 2 unit of pathfinders, 1 piranha, 3 broadsides). He held all the suits and the kroot in reserve, I deployed only my Farseer. The Farseer survived two turns of the broadsides shooting and a turn of the suits shooting (gotta love fortune). On my second turn almost my whole army showed up minus two prisms, that's when the Tau started to die. My opponent was real cool, despite my awesome rolling and surviving everything he threw at me. The game ended with me holding 1 objective and Tau holding none. It was major win due to secondary objective (kill most expensive unit).

Game 4. This battle was a tough one. The center of the table was the objective and Night Fight rules for the whole game. My opponent was Chaos (2 lash prices, 3 units of marines in rhinos, 2 oblitorators, 1 unit of raptors, 1 defiler). The fighting in constant night is a real disadvantage for my army and was a plus for my opponent. He was able to corner me under the cover of darkness and eat me alive! The game was a minor loss for me as he wasn't able to claim the objective but completed the secondary objective (kill the messenger). Good game though.

I won "Winner Overall" and "Best Conversion" for my Autarch (Nauhdu Fireheart). I had alot of fun and I will go back to play again. The Club they have there is full of good players and good people, and that is what makes this hobby worth being in.

MiniWarGaming Tourney...

So I entered the MiniWargaming 1850 pt 40K tourney. For me it is at least a 9 hr drive. It is happening May 30 2009 and I'm a little excited to be playing. I enjoy playing new people because not everyone plays the same way, or plays by the same conventions. It is good to play new people and this will be a learning experience. I'm going to take a "pure Saim-hann" force, not one foot touches the ground. I expect to see lots of IG and marines. Here is the list I'm taking:

HQ- Farseer= stones, both sets of runes, spear, jetbike, Doom, Guide, and Fortune.
HQ- Autarch= MBlasters, Lance, Fusion Gun, jetbike.

Troop- Jetbike= Warlock w/ (conceal,Spear), 12 bikes w/ 4 cannons.
Troop- Jetbike= Warlock w/ (conceal,Spear), 12 bikes w/ 4 cannons.

Fast- Vypers= 3 w/ starconnons.
Fast- Vypers= 3 w/ starconnons.

Heavy- Fire Prism.
Heavy- Fire Prism
Heavy- Fire Prism

This is as fluffy as a Saim-hann can be IMO. I've got plenty of experience playing a list similar to this. 40K isn't about killing your opponent anymore, it's about objectives.

I'll be taking plenty of pics and vid on this day, so I'll update then how it goes.

Phoenix Bombers pt. 2

Here is a close up of the stands mount. I changed it from what I originally did, as it felt to clumsy.

A close up of the belly, the magnet sits a few millimeters in the model but I didn't want to cut too far in. It is glued and green stuffed.

This is just a few of the assembled model. The magnets are strong.

Both bombers are ready to be painted... when ever that is... :)

More Jetbikes

Well, like a true maniac I bought twelve more bikes. Six are for Shuriken Cannons, but what to do with the other six? Seer Council? I'm not real sure what to do with the Autarch as well....

Phoenix Bombers

As the arms race continues, I purchased two Eldar Phoenix Bombers. I've never used flyers in the game so I can't wait to see them in action. As with all ForgeWorld resin kits these little guys needed to be reshaped and filled in. And YES I make the little jet sounds when I hold them.... :)

The kits can with the new Valkyrie flying stands. Which at first I thought was a good thing. The stands are designed for the Valkyrie, and so there is no little "X" under the bomber.

So I really wanted to use the base as it is sturdy and it would save me from looking for material for a flying base. I tried to think of many ways to mount the bomber on the stand. Greenstuff is the solution I think is best. It doesn't require me cutting into my Phoenix and possibly ruining it.

Just slap a little cube of Greenstuff, press the model into it and presto! I'm still going to have to magnitze it as the model sits well but may fall when moved during a game. I'm going to paint the GS because I don't want a little green cube under my pretty red plane.... :)

I think the base is just right for gaming, as I see some stands for flyers that are just alittle too tall IMO. On the table I think it will be obvious that it is a flying model.

Shuriken Cannon Bikes

Parts used are the stock jetbike and one shuriken cannon from the Vyper kit.

The next step is trim the catapult barrels off and cut the Cannon where the narrow end touches the body of the cannon. I tried to use the little hose part of the cannon but it just wouldn't work out...

At this point I cut the end piece off the cannon and shaved the end-rim off to give it a rounded appearance. I wanted to use the ammo feed but it would become too cluttered under the bike if I did...

Here the two pieces are glued in place. The tab that hangs from the cannon end has to be trimmed so the bike canopy will fit properly.

This is the assembled bike. I like the cannon off set from the center like the metal version as it visible and immediately recognizable.

This is the finished bike conversion. The rider is a simple head swap with the current guardian head. I think it is the easiest and fastest way of getting shuriken cannons in your squads without braking the bank to do it. Most Eldar and Saim-hann players will have the parts laying about....

I was inspired to get to work on some of my stuff due to this guy and the massive project ahead of him....

This is where I currently stand...

Here is my bikes, need more... :)

Here is some armor, and I just finished 2 more prisms for it. The Scorpion has never been lost in a battle. Never had it against a baneblade, but soon enough it will get the chance.

Here are my Vypers.... lots of work needed....

Here is my Infantry, there used to be more but I got rid of alot of it. Waithguard, oop guardians, warp spiders...

so much painting needed, not enough time in the day for it though....

Phantom Titan of the Saim Hann

Well more work has been done on this behemoth. The wraith icon on the left leg is a "Grand Wraith", which I feel is appropriate for the model. The groin was given a armor plate in the same fashion as the new revenant titan and wraithlord. I will add hip and "backside" armor.

Vypers

Falcon & Fire Prism

Warlock

This piece was done awhile back, my greenstuff work is alittle better these days.... :)

Saim-Hann Farseer on Jetbike

This piece was created because the army needs a farseer and what inspired me to get one made was Fritz's Contest he had a while back. I never got it finished in time, of course... :)

The jetbike has had the wings replaced with vyper wings, and a falcon antenna added between the shuriken catapults. A Farseer rune was sculpted on the hood.
The Farseer is a Dire Avenger torso & green stuff sculpted chest, High Elf stardard arm for the staff, High Elf Mage cloak, and lots of green stuff for robes.
Still WIP....

Autarch's of my Warhost

This is my Autarch, when I made him he was the "Chief" of the WindRiders.
The feeling I was going for was close to the fluff in the codex, the Saim-hann are closer to feral eldar than any other craftworld.
The head piece was cut from an old khorne beastman, and green stuff for the breast armor, fur trim boots.

This is a piece I worked on a few years ago. It is Nuadhu Fireheart.
Again I was going for a feral Eldar feeling for them.... and still do.
I still consider him a WIP....
